Thought Provoking Quotes from Albert Einstein

Einstein is thought to be one of the smartest people who ever lived. So smart that the doctor who looked at his body after he died stole his brain.

Thomas Harvey took Einstein’s brain, even though the genius had made it clear that he didn’t want his brain or body to be studied after he died.

Even though Einstein’s brain was really different from most people’s, it wasn’t always clear how smart he was.

Einstein’s parents thought he was disabled when he was young because he was slow to learn and didn’t start talking until he was four.

But when he was five and his father showed him a compass for the first time, he became obsessed with science. In the years that followed, he not only came up with the theory of relativity and a number of other inventions that changed the way we see and understand the world, but he also gave us advice on how to live better lives.

“Not because I’m so smart. But I spend a lot more time thinking about the questions.”
There are many ways to be successful, but one thing that most successful people have in common is that they don’t give up.

Einstein didn’t just come up with the ideas for his inventions by chance. His work came from many years of research and trying things out.

When you give up too soon, you throw away your chance to win.

Most of the time, the most successful people aren’t the smartest or most talented ones. Instead, they are the ones who are the most determined and interested. If you’re interested and willing to grow, you’ll find amazing opportunities and probably find answers to the questions you have.

But if you think you’re smarter than everyone else, you might not only end up alone, but you might also miss out on small wins and variety in life.

How to use it: Whenever you feel like giving up on a project or dream, take a few minutes and ask yourself why you started in the first place.

If something is important to you, you will find a way to do it. And if you give up too quickly, it’s likely that it wasn’t that important to begin with.

“Living your life is like riding a bike. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
Einstein wrote this sentence in a letter to his son in 1930.

Quite often, when things get hard, we stop moving forward. But the truth is that these are the times when we need to keep moving even though life stinks.

Consistency will get you everything you want in life, and moving on will always pay off, no matter how hard things may seem.

How to use it: No matter what you do, keep moving.

Great things never come from being lazy or staying in your comfort zone.

Keeping your balance and making your life better in many ways will come from being curious and active.

As Oprah once said:

“When you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.”

“It’s OK if you don’t know everything. You only need to know where to look.”
This is one of my favourite Einstein quotes because it says everything we need to know about how to learn in the 21st century.

Einstein was asked what the speed of sound was in 1921. He said he didn’t know because he didn’t remember information that could be found in textbooks.

We have more information at our fingertips than ever before. Most questions can be answered in a few minutes or even seconds by using our phones.

The education system still makes students memorise things for tests, though.

That’s not only useless, but also a waste of time, since information isn’t worth anything anymore. What matters is how you use that knowledge and if you can remember it when you need it.

How to use it: Don’t waste your time trying to remember things you can easily store somewhere else and find quickly.

Every day, we have to make a lot of little decisions. With each of these choices, we lose energy and find it harder to stay focused and get things done.

It only gets worse if you try to remember a lot of information.

Instead, you should set up digital systems for managing information. You can write down and keep track of important information with tools like Notion, Evernote, Trello, or Google Drive.

Once you have these tools set up, it will be easy to find all the information you need. This will free up your valuable brainpower so you can do more important things, like making important decisions.

“Knowledge is less important than imagination. We only know so much. The world is surrounded by imagination.”
This is one of the most famous quotes by Albert Einstein. It was first said in an interview in 1929.

Einstein talked about how he often knew he was right even though he didn’t know why in that interview. He said that his intuition tells him that a guess he has must be right.

Einstein talks about his statement in his book “Cosmic Religion and Other Opinions and Aphorisms.” Here’s what he says:

“Sometimes I’m sure I’m right even though I don’t know why. When the eclipse of 1919 proved what I already knew to be true, I wasn’t the least bit surprised. I would have been surprised if it had turned out differently. Knowledge is less important than having a good imagination. Because knowledge is limited, but imagination can take in the whole world. This leads to progress and evolution. It is a real factor in scientific research, to be precise.”

Too often, we try to be logical and live our lives based on what we think should be done instead of listening to our inner voice.

But the truth is that your intuition and imagination can take you to places where your logic would never go.

How to use it: If you feel stuck in life, it’s likely because you’re making things too hard.

Knowledge and logic might make you feel stuck when you face a problem, but your intuition and imagination can often lead you to beautiful places.

If you listen to your inner voice and let it guide you through hard times, life can be a lot easier.

“Someone who is smart solves a problem. Smart people stay away from it.”
When problems come up, most people feel like they can’t handle it. When they find a mistake, they immediately start looking for a way to fix it.

But what we should do instead is find the problem’s root, or cause, and try to stop it from happening in the first place.

If you’re willing to change, you can get rid of a lot of your daily problems by changing the way you think and act.

When you feel stuck in life and don’t know what to do next, look at the small worries and problems you have and figure out how to get rid of them.

How to use it: The next time you have a problem, big or small, ask yourself what you could have done to avoid it.

You might be able to ask someone for help.

You might be able to buy better products.

We often have to deal with the same problems every day. In the long run, it can save you a lot of time and effort to try to figure out why they are happening.

“If A is successful in life, then A = x + y + z. Work is x, play is y, and keeping quiet is z.”
Einstein worked hard and made many important contributions to society and modern science, but he also took time to have fun and relax. Even though his idea of fun might not have been the same as most people’s, he knew that relaxing is just as important as working hard.

But the part of Einstein’s formula for success that is the most surprising is that you should keep your mouth shut. Einstein, unlike most people, didn’t feel the need to talk all the time.

He preferred to keep quiet and didn’t feel the need to prove himself or show how his ideas worked.

Everyone likes to talk, but not many people like to listen. Einstein, on the other hand, used that power to his advantage and chose to listen to people in order to change their minds.

Even though he had more unique ideas to share than most people, he chose to stay quiet and let others talk.

How to put it to use:
Epictetus had a beautiful saying that goes:

“We only have one mouth and two ears, so we can listen twice as much as we talk.”

People remember what great leaders do, not what they say.

Listen more than you talk if you want to be remembered and respected.

And don’t forget to find a balance between work and play, no matter what you do. When you combine the two, you’ll feel right at home.

“A happy man is too happy with what he has now to worry too much about what will happen in the future.”
Even though bad things will always happen, it’s up to us to decide whether to focus on the good or the bad.

Most of the time, life isn’t a bowl of cherries, but it’s a lot easier to deal with if you realise that you make your own reality.

You don’t have to be happy all the time, but you can always choose to look at the good things in life, no matter how bad things are.

How to put it to use:
When we’re unhappy, it’s usually because we’re worried about what happened in the past or we don’t know what will happen in the future.

But the truth is that none of these things can be changed by us. The past is gone, and you never know what will happen in the future.

You can only focus on the present and make the most of each day.

Last things to say
Even though you don’t have to be the next Einstein, you can start to think like him and become the best version of yourself by following some of his advice.

Stay longer with the questions: Curiosity will take you to places that are much more interesting than intelligence.
To keep your balance, you must always be moving: Most of the time, it’s more important to be moving than to do anything else. The moment you stand still, you’ll lose opportunities.
Don’t fill your head with information that you don’t need: Set up digital tools for managing information instead, and save your brain power for making important decisions.
Knowledge is less important than having a good imagination: Don’t forget to use your imagination in the game no matter what you do.
Find out how to avoid trouble: It’s nice to solve problems, but it’s much better to get rid of the cause.
You can go far if you work hard, play hard, and keep your mouth shut. Learn to keep these three things in check, and you’ll be ahead of most people.
Be so focused on the here and now that you forget about the past and the future.
