The Battle to Defeat the Distractions

Share your love

Distractions are everywhere in today’s world.

Things that you didn’t want to pay attention to steal your focus every day.

Most people think of digital distractions first and foremost, such as when social media sites like Facebook or Twitter interrupt an otherwise fruitful attempt at concentration.

But of course, the opposite is true.

According to Oliver Burkeman, ancient Greek philosophers viewed distraction less as a result of external disruptions and more as a result of a failure to spend time on activities that one professed to love most.

This is a fight to the death.

Therefore, life is nothing more than the accumulation of the things you’ve done and seen, and the things you’ve done and seen are the accumulation of everything to which you’ve paid attention.

Therefore, a fight for your focus becomes a fight for your very existence.

Focusing on one thing narrows one’s view of the world.

Every day, you face competing calls for your attention from groups that don’t have your best interests at heart.

In any case, that part of their life’s events resulted from a decision they were not in a position to make.

Time is the stuff of existence, said the ancient Greek philosopher Seneca.

Therefore, it is crucial that we evaluate how much discretion we actually have over how we spend our limited time each day.

In other words, time is what makes life possible. Says Seneca

It’s important to take your mind off things.

Distractions are an inevitable part of life.

As humans, we simply cannot train ourselves to be completely apathetic. To put it another way, no outside influence will be able to divert our focus.

You wouldn’t be able to avoid a collision with an incoming vehicle, respond to a call, be distracted by a lovely painting on the side of the road, etc. So, it’s important to change their focus.

The question now is, what course of action do you recommend given this information?
You need to recognize your constraints before you can provide a satisfactory response.

Recognize that total control over your focus is impossible. There’s no way to do it. However, you do have some control over where your focus goes.

Consider where you’d like to focus part of your energy. Spend that time focusing on what matters most to you.

The focus of your life is directly proportional to the amount of attention you give it.

Tend to your wits!

There’s a fight going on for your life, and you have to survive.
